Deana is an acclaimed Ballroom and Street Latin Dancer with over 20 years experience in dancing.
Deana performed her first major dance performance at the age of 7 at Expo 88 where she danced Yugoslav folk dancing. From folk dancing, Deana moved over to the very elegant and technical world or Ballroom dancing where she won her first QLD title after only dancing for 6 months. She then remained undefeated and held the QLD title for 3 years straight in all Ballroom 10 dance styles. After making a trip to Melbourne to perform in the Australia Dancesport ballroom dance championships and placing 3rd place, in the Adult division, her teachers knew that they had a rising star on their hands and she began to travel and compete all over Australia. In 2001, Deana found salsa and other street Latin dance styles and this is where she really began to find her passion for dance. She won her first title after 3 months of dancing salsa. Within 6 months she was the new QLD salsa champion and held that title for 4 years. Deana has represented Australia at the LA salsa congress and also at the Madrid salsa symposium. She was also selected to represent Australia at the world salsa championships after getting 2nd place at the Australian salsa championships. She is currently the QLD salsa duets champion and is based in Brisbane where she teaches and regularly performs.
